Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Sandro started in the animation industry in 1985 at 15 years old, working in a small animation studio producing TV commercials. After 4 years in the commercial work, Sandro moved to Ireland to work for the renowned director Don Bluth, famous as the director of An American Tail, The Secret of Nimh and Anastasia.
Sandro stayed with Bluth studio for 6 years and worked on several features including Anastasia. In 1997, Sandro started working as an animator at Walt Disney Feature Animation on films such as Fantasia 2000, The Emperor’s New Groove, Tarzan, Home on the Range and The Princess and the Frog. After several years at Disney, Sandro left and worked at Dreamworks and Duncan studios and later became a freelancer artist working for most of the major studios.
Sandro won an Annie Award for his animation on Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns in 2018. Today, Sandro continues as animator and character designs for the major studios, including Netflix Animation, Sony, Paramount, DNEG, among others.
